I was so excited two years ago to buy these seeds and have a field of red beebalm. I started the seeds, and shared them with others excited to share what I was sure would be a beautiful vibrant color. After sharing with one friend, they asked me the height and I discovered that the package didn't give that information. I took this chance to contact the company wondering if they could not only tell me the height but if this was the native red, Monarda Didyma, or a cultivar like Jacob Cline. I never received a response. So I waited and planned my gardens as if this would be a red beebalm, because that is what is pictured on the seed packet, which I guess was foolish of me to believe. After two years of waiting, the plants are 3-4 foot tall....and light purple blooms. I see now that the listing online has been updated to show purple in the gallery, but I find the red on the front of the packet very misleading. My hope is that maybe, just maybe even though I have a bunch of purple plants and need to relocate them - they may be the native bergamot? but I will probably never know.
