Start indoors 8-12 weeks and keep moist. Seedlings emerge in 10-14 days. Alternately, direct sow in the spring when soil is 60° or warmer. Harden off and move outside to a bed that will not be disturbed when seedlings are 6-10 inches tall. Do not harvest the first year. Wait until late fall to cut tops for the following years regrowth. Harvest in 24 months.
